On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court, ruled (7–2) in the Roe v. Wade case, declaring a nationwide constitutional right for women to be able to get an abortion.

The decision was recently overturned on June 24, 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overruling Roe v. Wade. According to AmericanProgress.org, “In the year following that decision, the pace of new legislation on abortion has been swift.”
