22-year-old South African artist Tyla is the talk of the town, especially in the African community, as she won the first ever “Best African Music Performance” award for her breakthrough hit song, “Water,” at the 66th GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 4, in Los Angeles, California.

“It's the first time this category is being introduced, so it just means so much more being the first winner,” she said during a post interview with City National Bank "First Look" Cam.

Other acts nominated in the Category include Burna Boy, who delivered the first African performance on the GRAMMY stage, Ayra Starr, Davido, and Asake.

“I've always been an advocate for African music…it's the music that I make, it's the music that I listen to all the time, and I've believed in it for so long," Tyla added. "I'm just happy that it's getting its recognition now.”

One thing's for sure, Africa was definitely represented at the festivities this year!
